K & 2 in the books.

Another year of school that just zipped by. We had a good year at Heartland Elementary but we are happy to move to a new school next year AND to not have to drive kids from Riverton-West Jordan twice a day. It was great having "big fish in a little pond" at Heartland but Midas Creek should help them to be challenged in new ways and I am super excited to see what a new school will offer.

Ms Merrill and K (who got to celebrate his birthday early- the joys of summer birthdays)
Kingston went from barely writing, not reading at all and not really digging coloring/art to reading on a C level, writing very well, loving Math and all things coloring/art. His teacher Ms. Merrill had a striking resemblance to Giselle from "Enchanted" and plenty of papers came home that said, "I love Ms Merrill". Ms Merrill also sent home a note at the end of the year saying she wanted to adopt Kingston as her nephew. She really helped Kingston to love learning and he is 100% ready for 1st grade.

Kindergarten graduate- this picture cracks me up.
Kingston had to complete a report as part of the Husky reward requirements. He could pick any topic so naturally, he chose Legos. He made a Lego man, wrote "Legos" in legos and wrote out all the questions he wanted to know by himself.
Mrs Forsyth and Mc
Miss Mckinley wasn't sure she was going to like 2nd grade or Mrs Forsyth. We had a rocky start (I think her teacher was a little old school and more strict than she was used to) but she grew so much. We had our first run in with the mean girls who called themselves "The Group" and I for one was not sad to see them be left behind. Mc is reading on a 3rd grade level, loves to draw (the anime drawings are my favorite), is excellent at Math and her handwriting is developing it's own style.

Mc's Narwhal report that we had two days to complete- so begrudgingly,we did it to earn the Husky Award (even though she had already met all the requirements.

Ever since we started with Heartland, we have worked to meet the requirements to earn the Golden Husky award. Both kids earned it this year and I am so proud of them.
Golden Huskies!

This is Kingston and Fatima- they were fast friends and according to K, they were  "the only two who were on green every day".
