#Shine

Serving in the Stake YW's has been the funnest and most challenging calling I have had. This year, Girl's Camp was a blast- that is once we got there :) A few weeks before camp, Lucinda Webb (the Stake YW president) tore her ACL stepping off a curb and had to be put in a boot. The day before, the Stake Camp Director, Jenny, dropped a block of ice on her toe and broke off her toenail and fractured the bones in her feet- no camp for her! Monica (our Food person) also had a family emergency and was unable to come and execute the menus she had planned. It seemed like the week was just going to be nuts but, all in all, it was an excellent experience. We pulled together and things ran so smoothly.

I have done Girl's Camp as it relates to the ward level but the stake is TOTALLY different. We had lots more downtime to read, write in our journals and talk to the girls as they came to pass of their scriptures. I was in charge of the treat tent so it was fun watching them earn prizes. We had fun planning our skit, ziplining, visiting the wards, talking, and running around when random wards needed help or medical attention. I made good friends with the wonderful ladies we serve with. It seemed like we had been friends for a long time and were just camping together. It was awesome.

Highlights: Testimony meeting with my own ward. My "fan club" of First ward ladies, my cool towel, dutch oven dinner with the stake, my cot, awesome Priesthood that put up our tents/cooked/cleaned and did whatever we needed.

Lowlights: a tick- attached to my head! Nastiest thing ever! One zipline accident, one girl sneaking to cell phone hill, some random drama, too many bags of lettuce from taco salad night, missing my kids.

Sure love these ladies. The truthfulness of the Gospel is manifest in the challenges we face in getting to a place where the spirit can be felt so strongly, friendships are forged and experiences are had that strengthen and edify.
My feet after camp. Lucinda's foot pre-boot, Jenny's poor toe the day we left.

Skit night!
